Charles P. Garcia
Chief Executive Officer

Charles Garcia, CEO of ALPFA, has dedicated his career to championing the influence of Latinos in U.S. society. He has worked for four Presidents, both Republican and Democrat, and the book "Hispanics in the USA: Making History" picked him as one of 14 Latino role models for the nation. He grew up in the Republic of Panama, graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy, and was a highly decorated military officer. He founded Sterling Financial Group, the fastest growing Hispanic-owned business in the U.S. with sixty offices in seven counties and $2 billion in assets, before selling it in 2006, to then serve as one of the youngest members of a Fortune 500 board. He is a Columbia Law School graduate, a former White House Fellow, and a bestselling author of two leadership books.

Julio Carbonell
Chief Information Officer

Julio was Senior Vice President and CIO of the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), a not-for-profit entity dedicated to the humane treatment of animals. As the ASPCA’s first CIO, he developed the strategy that led to the transformation of technology services to better align with the mission of serving victims of animal cruelty and of providing positive outcomes for at-risk animals. Previously he was Vice President of Information Technology at the Major League Baseball Office of the Commissioner (MLB) where he led the strategic direction and evolution of technology services for MLB’s central offices and teams. Prior to joining MLB, he was a Vice President and Product Manager with Citicorp Information Resources. Julio holds an accounting degree from the New York City College of Technology in Brooklyn, NY.

Leni Delgado
Chief of Staff and Deputy General Counsel

Leni Delgado started her legal career in New York City, often representing Fortune 500 companies in a variety of areas, including: Latin America corporate deals, commercial litigation, employment contracts and policies, intellectual property, securities, and antitrust. She has also received accolades for her pro-bono work. Leni received her law degree from Harvard Law School. She received her bachelor's degree in history from the University of Florida, where she graduated summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA. She is a fluent Spanish speaker and an avid fan of mixed martial arts.

Migdalia Diaz
Chief Operating Officer

As Chief Operating Officer of ALPFA, Migdalia’s goal is to create a future where any Latino can look in any direction, in any industry, and find a Latino role model to emulate. Prior to joining ALPFA, Migdalia was the Priority Projects Manager for AIRINC, working with the Operations Committee to prioritize company projects and deliver those projects while also managing two suites of products. Prior to her role at AIRINC, Migdalia worked for 10 years in the International Assignment Solutions Group for PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Hartford, Connecticut; Auckland, New Zealand and Boston, Massachusetts offices. She managed clients with small and medium sized expatriate programs and assisted them with the specific tax compliance, policy and payroll related issues unique to programs of this size. Migdalia also served in the Connecticut Army National Guard for eight years where she learned the importance of teamwork and of working efficiently. Migdalia graduated with a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Connecticut. She has been an active ALPFA member for the past ten years since attending the ALPFA Convention in Miami in 2005. She served as the Chair of Marquee Events and has been the President of the Boston Chapter since October 2013. Under her leadership the Chapter was recognized in 2014 as the Leading Chapter of the Year by ALPFA and was also honored by El Mundo Newspaper as Community Partner of the year.

Verna Greer
Senior Vice President, Corporate Development

Verna is a results-driven Accredited Business Advisor and a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFE) with business development expertise. She specializes in providing executive leadership and guidance to build new and existing organizations in the not-for-profit and private sectors. She is consistently successful in increasing effectiveness, productivity and profitability at all levels, while surpassing goals and expectations. Verna received her Bachelor of Science degree with honors from Northeastern University and later graduated among the top 10 in her class from the Northeastern Graduate School of Business where she earned a MBA with an emphasis in entrepreneurialism.

Frank Lopez
Senior Vice President of Corporate Development

Frank is an accomplished visionary executive with demonstrated ability to deliver mission-critical results throughout the pillar areas of diversity and inclusion practices in the corporate sector. He has experience leading and managing all levels and pillars of corporate, not-for-profit development and diversity/inclusion relationship-building initiatives and strategic alliances. Frank has been instrumental in leading dynamic national trade associations and has achieved strategic expansion through development of strategic alliances with major corporate and philanthropy stakeholders from across the nation. He has led campaigns to expand community based service capacity footprint from coast to coast, including in Puerto Rico.

Radhames Nova
Executive Director, Boston Chapter

Radhames Nova joined ALPFA in October 2011 as Executive Director of the Boston Chapter. He currently oversees operations, including development and support of ALPFA’s professional and student chapters. Radhames leads planning, development and implementation of ALPFA’s Latino Business 500, a new organizational initiative to connect Latino businesses and corporations throughout the United States for supplier diversity opportunities. He obtained his B.A. from Middlebury College and his MBA from Boston University.

Jorge Ortega
Chief Marketing Officer

Jorge brings more than two decades of experiences in the Hispanic market working with major CPG companies, health brands and organizations. He is one of the top Hispanic PR/ Social media leaders working with clients such as Coca-Cola (AOR) and ESPN Deportes. He has also developed programs for clients such as J&J, Novartis and General Mills. Jorge serves on the advisory board of the Florida State University Center for Hispanic Marketing Communications.

Lori Ruff
Chief Branding Officer

Lori Ruff, ALPFA’s ‘Chief Brand Evangelist,’ is one of the Top 50 most connected individuals on LinkedIn. She is a long-standing authority on social media, ecommerce, branding, and building engaged and loyal communities of brand fans, advocates and influencers. She is a LinkedIn Ambassador, and Forbes has included her in every release of their Top 50 Social Media Power Influencers’ list. She is currently ranked #7 Social Media Power Influencer Woman globally by CEO World (in cooperation with Pew Research and Neilson). She is a 2014 Top 100 (Social Media) Community Manager, American Genius Beat Top 50 Industry Influencer, WE Magazine’s Top 101 Women in eCommerce, AGBeat’s Top 50 Industry Influencer, Moody’s 50 Favorite People of 2012 & 2014 and Webbiquity’s #Nifty50 Top Twitter Women Writers. Suri Surinder
Chief Learning Officer

Suri has held C-level roles running billion dollar P&Ls and large global functional groups. He has developed the techniques and concepts he teaches during a long and successful business career spanning 27 years and 27 assignments as an executive, consultant, board member, author, entrepreneur and professor. His entrepreneurial experience includes serving as Founder and CEO of CTR Factor, and Chief Learning Officer and Global Head of Consulting Services at Diversity MBA Consulting. His corporate experience spans multiple industries, and companies like Pfizer, Verizon, McKinsey, Centurylink, Capital One, and Barclays. Suri holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering, an M.S. in Structural Engineering, an MBA in Marketing, and has a DBA in Marketing.

Lauro Valdovinos
Chief Financial Officer

Lauro Valdovinos is CFO of ALPFA, a position he assumed in 2014. In this role, he is responsible for the overall financial functioning of the organization, including internal and external reporting, treasury, risk management, internal control, operations finance and taxation. Lauro is a strategically focused, financially disciplined, results-oriented leader with a track record in global and domestic operations. He has served three Fortune 500 corporations (Estee Lauder, American Medical International and Security Pacific Bank) and a variety of middle market companies. Prior to joining ALPFA, Lauro was Managing Partner of Valdovinos and Company. The firm provided high-level financial management expertise to emerging and middle market companies in the Los Angeles area. He obtained his CPA certificate from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) where he was president of his graduating class. He is bilingual English and Spanish and semi-fluent in Portuguese.
